so...

a friend of mine from uni went out to celebrate his birthday round lincoln, returedn home late one night, and called and ordered food from a local kebab house. it arrived cold and 2 hours late. after a discussion or 2 a brick was thrown through his front rooms window. im not going to explain the incident in full but u can see a 'transcript' either here on facebook or here on some bulliten page

My question is, how do they know it was this kebab shop???? theres no real evidence to show it was them, as well as the fact that said kebab shop closes at 3am in the morning, and this had well afer that. so is it libelous to print something, on the internet about someone somewhere or something when u cant be 100% sure its true?

and whatever the answer is, surely someone is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law and not a group on facebook

You bet it's libel!
Let's be very clear about this.

The internet is a form of publishing like any other.

If your friend is lying, it's libel. If he is unsure, it may be libel. And if they win a court case, he may end up owing them a lot of money.

OTOH, as a student, he may not have any. Still, student debt is nothing compared to leaving college as a declared bankrupt.

If I were you, and you are a real friend, I'd advise him to take it down.
